Jaws Movie (1975), filmed on-island
The movie was filmed on the island. Martha’s Vineyard was chosen because its surrounding waters have shallow sandy bottoms which allowed the mechanical sharks to be operated off the coast but out of sight of land. The police chief’s “house” is on East Chop !
